When a candle doesn't have enough time to melt all the way across from edge to edge it will create a memory and continue to "tunnel" down on future burns leaving the sides untouched. Usually around 1.5hrs should be enough to create a desired melt pool and no more than 4hrs.
For best results we recommend burning a candle long enough to develop a fully melted wax pool on top from edge to edge which can take around 1.5hrs. We do not recommend burning any candle for more than 4hrs.
Away from busy traffic areas, drafty or breezy areas like under a fan or a/c vent. Do not place on or near the edge of your surface to prevent falling. Place on a safe, level and stable surface away from moving objects to avoid getting tipped or knocked over. Ideally on a heat resistant buffer like a coaster or similar to avoid heat from damaging sensitive surfaces. Don't burn candles in unventilated small areas. Instructions are located on the bottom of every candle container.
When there is about a 1/4" of wax left in the container, the lower wax gets the more heat builds on the bottom. So make sure you have your candle positioned on a heat resistant surface such as a coaster to avoid damaging more sensitive areas.
Candle wicks will need to be trimmed when the flame is too large or create a blob/mushroom effect at the end of the wick. This can be caused from variations in the natural ingredients or even a candle that is experiencing to much wind causing the flame to act erratic. Try to avoid trimming the wick too short as it will not perform properly. We have found about a 1/4" works well.
Both types of candles do the same thing but in different ways. A single wick candle is going to consume less wax then a multi wick. As for scent strength a multi wick candle will emit a stronger scent throw compared to a single. So for smaller rooms like bathrooms and bedrooms a single wick would be a good option, larger rooms would benefit from multi wicked candles.
-If you experience too large of a flame then this is usually a sign that the wick needs to be trimmed. Start with trimming any build up on the end of the wick, length should be about 1/4" but be careful as a burned wick can be brittle.
-A flame too low can be from a wick trimmed/broke too short, or curled too much from not being trimmed and the wax is drowning the flame. Try to clean the wick up by trimming and then relighting.
Since our candles are made with all natural soy wax it is not uncommon for the tops to develop a rough look on the surface after the wax cools. This is due to the wax crystalizing and cooling at slightly different rates than other parts. This is nothing to be concerned about as it does not effect the performance of the candle and is to be expected with soy wax that is all natural.
